On August 12, a solar eclipse occurred, with its path passing through Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. This event was broadcast by NASA.

However, in the footage during the broadcast, it was noticeable that NASA visually presented Crimea as Russian territory, and the broadcast also showed a line visually separating the peninsula from Ukraine.

After returning to the White House in 2025, US President Donald Trump began efforts to resolve Russia's war against Ukraine.
