NASA shows Crimea as part of Russia during solar eclipse broadcast

On Wednesday evening, August 12, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) broadcast a live stream of the solar eclipse. In these images, occupied Crimea was shown as "Russian," according to NASA's live broadcast.
On August 12, a solar eclipse occurred, with its path passing through Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. This event was broadcast by NASA.
However, in the footage during the broadcast, it was noticeable that NASA visually presented Crimea as Russian territory, and the broadcast also showed a line visually separating the peninsula from Ukraine.

What else is important to know
After returning to the White House in 2025, US President Donald Trump began efforts to resolve Russia's war against Ukraine.
During these initial attempts, media reports emerged that the US was allegedly prepared to recognize Russia's control over occupied Ukrainian Crimea as part of a peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv.
At the time, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stated that any legal recognition of Russia's control over Crimea would be a ticking time bomb.
