Musk changes phone number after fallout with Trump

Former head of the US Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), Elon Musk, changed his phone number after a dispute with US President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson said, according to NEWSMAX.
According to Johnson, Musk stopped communicating with him after the argument with President Donald Trump.
"I sent him a long text message, and then his phone number changed, because after the blow-up, something happened with his – realized I was sending it out into the ether somewhere and he never read it," the Speaker added.
Johnson clarified that negotiations are currently underway through intermediaries to restore contact with Musk.
"So I look forward to meeting with him in person. We got to make that right," he said.
According to Johnson, Musk, Trump, and the Republican Party need to resolve their differences ahead of the midterm elections.
"Frankly, I think the president was of that mind as well, but there's some tension there," the Speaker added.
Musk–Trump dispute
The dispute between Elon Musk and Donald Trump erupted amid growing political disagreements and the adoption of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which Musk sharply criticized.
The billionaire considered the bill insufficiently radical in tackling government spending from the Biden era, while Trump and his congressional allies, including Speaker Mike Johnson, emphasized its strategic importance.
Musk, who had long maintained informal ties with Republicans, saw the move as a retreat from promises of real reform and announced plans to launch a new political force — the Party of America.
