Three airports in the Moscow aviation hub have suspended operations again, as they did the previous day, when a massive drone attack on the Russian capital prompted flight restrictions, reports Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).

Around midnight on October 17, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports suspended operations.

According to Rosaviatsia, temporary restrictions were imposed on aircraft arrivals and departures at the airports.

Russian aviation authorities did not specify the exact reason for the shutdown. However, the statement said the restrictions were necessary to ensure flight safety.

A day earlier, restrictions were also imposed at four airports in the Moscow aviation hub — the three mentioned above and Sheremetyevo — amid a massive drone attack.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the attack the previous day, reporting that around 50 drones had targeted the city. However, as of early Saturday morning, the mayor had not reported any drone threat in Moscow.

As previously reported, on the night of October 14, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched hundreds of attack drones toward Moscow and the Moscow region.
