A powerful explosion was heard across Moscow on the morning of August 7, with residents reporting that the blast caused walls and windows in their apartments to shake, according to Astra.

The loud explosion was heard at around 11:00 a.m. in several parts of the Russian capital and its surrounding suburbs.

According to local residents, the shock wave was felt across different areas of the city. Witnesses said the explosion was clearly heard in offices and residential buildings in central and northern Moscow.

Residents near the Varshavskaya and Domodedovskaya metro stations also reported hearing the blast, as did people living in towns outside Moscow.

So far, there have been no visible signs of an impact or fire, and Moscow authorities and emergency services have not commented on the incident.

"We had just heard a clear, distant, loud explosion in our office in central Moscow. Almost immediately, friends from different suburbs messaged saying they had heard it too. Something must have exploded with tremendous force," one witness said.

Other eyewitnesses said the blast was strong enough to make windows shake in many apartments, although no visible damage or smoke could be seen.

Earlier, on August 1, a powerful explosion at a café in central Moscow killed at least five people and injured several others.

It was later reported that one of those killed was the son-in-law of Russian General Alexander Chaiko, who was reportedly celebrating his birthday at the venue.
