On the night of July 20 and during the morning of that day, Moscow and the Moscow region came under a massive drone attack. Several fires have already been recorded in the region, according to Russian Telegram channels.

Starting at 02:53, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin began actively posting that air defense systems were operating in the region. According to his statements, as of 04:05, air defense had allegedly shot down 58 drones.

In two of the posts, it was noted that the drones were simply shot down, not on approach to Moscow. This may indicate that some of the drones may have reached the Russian capital.

By the way, some Russian media reported that a missile-danger alert was issued in the Moscow region, but it was later canceled.

Closer to 4 a.m., OSINT public pages began to widely publish videos showing at least one fire site. Preliminarily, the drone strike hit an oil depot in Podolsk, a town in the Moscow region.

A little later, it emerged that there was not just one fire in the city, but two or even three. One of these locations may have been a Wildberries warehouse. At least, judging by the video footage, personnel evacuation began there.

The authorities have not yet commented on the consequences in any way.

OSINT public pages clarify that, according to preliminary data, two Wildberries bases and one oil depot were attacked in Podolsk.

Updated at 06:30 a.m. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 400 drones attempted to attack the Moscow region overnight. According to him, most were intercepted at long range, while Russian air defenses shot down another 85 drones as they approached Moscow.

Meanwhile, OSINT communities have provided additional details on the reported targets:

  • A Wildberries warehouse at the Yuzhnye Vorota industrial complex in Domodedovo was hit.
  • A Wildberries logistics hub near Podolsk was struck.
  • An oil depot in the settlement of Lvovsky was hit.
  • The Grivno industrial park in Motovilovo was also likely targeted.

Other attacks

On the night of July 18, Russia's Tambov region came under a drone attack. At that time, after explosions in Kotovsk, a fire broke out at a Wildberries warehouse.

Later, the media noted that Russian TV channels and online media practically did not show Russians the Ukrainian strikes on Wildberries.
