Monument in Moscow city center tagged with Ukrainian intelligence inscription
An inscription reading "DIU," (Defense Intelligence Directorate) which stands for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, has appeared on a monument to Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov in Moscow's Manezhnaya Square, according to RIA Novosti, Baza, and Astra.
The inscription appeared on the monument on Monday evening, June 3. It was allegedly made by two nurses - 55-year-old Vera Nikolaeva and 28-year-old Anastasia Lysenko.
Reports indicate that the women were detained immediately after writing "DIU" on the monument. They allegedly did this under the instruction of phone scammers they had been in contact with for about a week.
On Tuesday evening, June 4, the women were sent to a pre-trial detention center.
RBC-Ukraine obtained the video from anonymous sources identifying as the Public Initiative "Youth for DIU."
