Ukraine has issued a strong response to Russia's recent missile strike on the energy infrastructure of Kremenchuk, calling it part of a cynical strategy by Moscow to act while global attention is focused on the Middle East, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha reports.

According to Sybiha, Russia is deliberately targeting Ukraine's energy system while the world is distracted by escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.

Ukrainian Minister emphasized that these strikes are an attempt by Russia to intensify pressure and terror, while simultaneously imitating a willingness for peaceful dialogue with the West. In this context, the strikes on Kremenchuk appear especially cynical.

Sybiha called on international partners not to limit themselves to statements, but to strike at the energy heart of Russia.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister noted that in order to do this, it is necessary to lower the price cap on Russian oil to 30 dollars, impose additional restrictions against Russia's shadow fleet and its captains, and generally strengthen sanctions against the Russian energy sector.

"Hit Putin where it hurts - this will advance, not impede, the peace process," Sybiha added.

Largest attack on Kremenchuk

On the night of June 15, Russia launched a combined strike on Kremenchuk, using drones and various types of missiles. This is one of the most large-scale attacks on the city since the beginning of the full-scale war.

According to local media, at least 30 explosions were heard in the city. Social media is spreading photos of powerful fires and the aftermath of destruction.

The Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration reported that the Russian strikes were aimed at energy and agricultural infrastructure facilities in the Kremenchuk community. A residential building, a vehicle, and power lines were damaged.

Some destruction was also recorded in the Chutivska community.
