Italian actress Monica Bellucci and American director Tim Burton have announced their breakup, AFP reports.

In a joint statement to the publication, they emphasized that they parted "with much respect and deep care for each other."
As recently as July 2023, Bellucci and Burton appeared together on the red carpet at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, but now their love story has come to an end.

How they met
The couple first met in 2022 at the Lumière Festival in Lyon, where Monica presented Tim with the prestigious Lumière Award.
Their acquaintance quickly developed into a romance, which received significant media attention.

"I love Tim. And I have great respect for Tim Burton. It's one of those encounters that rarely happen in life," Bellucci admitted in an interview with Marie-Claire at the time.
Their relationship also led to creative collaboration. Monica was cast in "Beetlejuice 2," the sequel to the iconic 1988 dark comedy.
In the new installment, she played Dolores, a sinister creature similar to Frankenstein, seeking revenge on her former husband, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton).
In 2024, the film opened the Venice Film Festival. It became one of the year's most talked-about premieres.
