Moldova's elections

Moldova's parliament has 101 deputies. These elections were held under a new Electoral Code. Approximately 2,000 polling stations opened across the country, with an additional 300 operating abroad.

Russia is reportedly trying to influence the election by promoting Kremlin-controlled political forces.

Today, there were numerous reports of alleged bomb threats at overseas polling stations. However, Moldova's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country had prepared for such scenarios and is working with other states to ensure the electoral process is not disrupted.

Earlier, President Maia Sandu warned that if Moldova fell under Russian control, the country could become a staging ground for Russian troops to invade Ukraine's Odesa region. She stressed that a victory for pro-Russian forces in the elections would be extremely dangerous.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also commented on the elections, warning that if pro-Russian forces enter parliament, the situation could change and pose risks for everyone.
