Mobilization shouldn't come as a shock to Ukrainians, recruitment offices need reform – Commander-in-Chief

Mobilization should not be shocking for people in Ukraine. That's why the recruitment centers should be changed, says the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, at a meeting with journalists.
Over the past year, the length of the front has increased by 200 km and is about 1,200 km. Therefore, the main source of troop replenishment is the continuation of mobilization.
Syrskyi emphasized that no country has escaped mobilization in the war.
“I insist on mobilization with mandatory observance of the law and transparency in the work of the recruitment centers. Mobilization should not be a shock for people. All our military recruitment centers must change. The President of Ukraine, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, has set the task,” he said.
He added that inspections are being carried out at the centers, and the work of commissions is ongoing. It is necessary to ensure that servicemen with injuries replace those who did not fight.
“The recruitment centers have to fulfill their duties and prevent these shameful incidents that sometimes happen. Corrupt officials and violators of the law during the mobilization process must be exposed. All necessary measures should be taken against such violators,” stated Syrskyi.
Mobilization in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine until August 6, 2025. The general mobilization covers fit-for-service men liable for military service (with certain exceptions). Women who have a military specialty can also be mobilized only at their own request.
Earlier, the mobilization age in Ukraine was reduced from 27 to 25 years. The parliament emphasizes that they are not going to reduce the mobilization age even further.
During martial law in Ukraine, men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from traveling abroad. There are exceptions for certain categories of citizens who have the right to cross the border with the appropriate documents.
