Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully neutralized most of the weapons Russia deployed during a new large-scale attack, according to a report from the Ukrainian Air Force.

On the night of October 15, Russian troops struck Ukraine with missiles and attack drones. The airstrike began as early as 6:00 p.m. (Kyiv time) on October 14.

During the new attack, the enemy deployed:

  • 2 Kh-59 guided air-to-ground missiles from the Black Sea;
  • 580 Shahed-type attack UAVs, Gerbera UAVs, and Parodiya-type decoy drones.

The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied cities of Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

Air forces, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in destroying the enemy targets.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had neutralized 536 enemy Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of drones.

At the same time, the following was recorded:

  • Enemy airstrikes hit 31 locations;
  • Downed targets and their debris falling at 11 locations.

The enemy’s attack is still ongoing. Several enemy drones remain in the airspace.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported on a massive Russian attack on the Kirovohrad region; three people are known to have been killed.

In light of recent events, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the resumption of strikes on enemy oil refineries.
