The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have filed a lawsuit against the administration of US President Donald Trump to prevent falsification and destruction of evidence in the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by an ICE agent, according to CNN.

The lawsuit states that representatives of federal agencies, and those acting under their orders or jurisdiction, removed materials from the scene, preventing local investigators from examining it.

The lawsuit is accompanied by a request for a temporary restraining order, which was filed on Saturday evening in the US District Court in Minneapolis. The defendants in the case include the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), US Customs and Border Protection, and US Attorney General Pam Bondi. The filing was made with the state attorney general's participation.

“Our office has jurisdiction to review this matter for potential criminal conduct by the federal agents involved and we will do so,” said Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty.

She added that the lawsuit is just one of many measures being taken to ensure a full and transparent investigation at the state level.

Earlier, DHS authorities did not allow the BCA Force Investigations Unit access to the shooting scene, despite having a search warrant, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said. They added that, despite limited access, they are participating in the investigation of the incident.

In Minneapolis, federal immigration agents fatally shot a man. The incident sparked a strong reaction from local authorities and new calls to limit ICE's presence in the city.

According to the official version, the man threatened the agents with his weapon. However, media outlets analyzed video from the scene — in the footage, the deceased had no pistol in his hand, only a phone.
