Minister speaks of timeline for Ukraine receiving frozen Russian assets

Minister speaks of timeline for Ukraine receiving frozen Russian assets Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov (Vitalii Nosach, RBC-Ukraine)

The topic of transferring Ukraine at least profit percentages of the frozen Russian assets is actively discussed in the West. Ukraine may receive these funds at best this year, but more realistically, it will be next year, says Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"The US has a position, the EU has a slightly different position. But one can say for sure that this year decisions on the use of frozen Russian assets will be made at the level of the respective legislation of partner states. We already see that this is happening," says the minister.

In his opinion, Ukraine can use at least some of these funds by the end of this year at best, but realistically, it will be next year.

Confiscation of Russian assets

The issue of confiscating Russian assets in favor of Ukraine is becoming increasingly relevant against the backdrop of the lack of new aid from the United States.

Since the beginning of the war, Western countries have frozen around 300 billion dollars of Russian assets.

Recently, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, proposed directing Russian assets towards military aid to Ukraine.

Recently, the Council of States of Switzerland (the upper house of parliament) supported the idea of transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.

On March 7, the Ukrainian government held a meeting on the confiscation of assets of the aggressor country.
