An unidentified military drone has crashed near residential housing in central Poland, within the locality of Leków, Masovia, informs RMF FM.
"In Leków, Masovia, a military drone crashed onto private property. Our reporter learned that it was most likely a small reconnaissance drone that fell during a Polish military exercise in the region," the statement said.
According to reports, the UAV came down on private land close to residential buildings. No structures were damaged, and no one was injured.
Unknown drones in Poland
On the night of September 10, around 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Air defense forces shot down four of them, while the rest either crashed or were detected in 11 localities, including one on the grounds of a military base.
According to Polish media, some of the unidentified drones may have been heading toward a NATO base in Poland.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte described the Alliance's actions as "very successful," emphasizing its readiness to defend every inch of territory, including the airspace.
On September 13, NATO launched Operation Eastern Sentry in Poland to strengthen the defense of Europe's eastern flank in response to Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.
It later emerged that on the night of September 9–10, when Russian drones violated Poland's airspace, the situation was "more serious than initially believed," as some of the drones were carrying explosives.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that the drones that entered the country on September 10 were technically capable of carrying munitions, but on that occasion, they were unarmed.
