Military analysts forecast potential turning point on Ukraine's Southern front
Ukrainian military continue to consolidate their positions on the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. The turning point on the southern front could be the destruction of the enemy's logistics, specifically the Crimean Bridge, according to the RBC-Ukraine story "Avdiivka situation and springboards in Kherson region, frontline overview."
The retired colonel of the British army, military expert Glen Grant, in an interview with one of the TV channels, said that the Defense Forces would continue to move since Russia had no way to push them to the right bank. And the turning point for Ukraine in the south will definitely come - it's only a matter of time.
Military and political observer of the Information Resistance Group, Oleksandr Kovalenko, believes that the situation in the south may change dramatically if Ukrainian forces cut off the enemy's logistics.
"If we talk about Oleshky, it is enough to cut the road E97 (Kherson - Kerch), P57 (Oleshky - Skadovsk) or T2206 (route 4-10 km along the Dnipro River), then the logistics along the left bank will be completely cut off. This will make resistance from the Russians impossible and will limit their mobility and maneuverability," he explains.
According to Kovalenko, if the Ukrainian Armed Forces cut off the main logistic routes, the occupiers would have to retreat to Radensk (over 15 km deep into the occupied territory) or even further south.
He believes that the decisive moment will be the destruction of the Crimean Bridge.
"That's when the Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and East groups will lose the necessary backing and logistical support. The Crimean Bridge really decides a lot. Apparently, this (its destruction, - ed.) is the most important turning point," Kovalenko adds.
Successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson region
On November 17, the Ukrainian military announced that they had carried out a series of successful actions on the left bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson region. They managed to gain a foothold on several bridgeheads.
The General Staff explained that the Ukrainian Armed Forces aimed to push Russian occupiers away from the right bank of the Dnipro. This step will reduce the shelling of civilians.
The spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, notes that work on the left bank is ongoing. According to her, the it is complicated by the bad weather.
