Africa and record-breaking sums: Tyson revealed the date and location
Tyson’s statement about the historic showdown was cited by Source of Boxing. According to him, the fight, for which an agreement was signed with the promotion company CSI Sports/Fight Sports back in September, is scheduled for next spring.
''It’s going to be in March, and it’s going to be in Africa. This is going to be incredible, we’re going to break all the records. It’s going to be one of the biggest events in the history of the sport,'' Tyson said.
Thus, the former world champions will hold their exhibition match in just a few months.
Mayweather returned to the ring in exhibition fights
Both boxers, despite having retired from their professional careers, continue to take part in lucrative exhibition matches.
Mayweather Jr., a five-division world champion, officially retired from professional boxing in 2015 after defeating Andre Berto.
However, in 2017, he returned for a high-profile bout against MMA fighter Conor McGregor. Mayweather knocked out the Irishman in the tenth round, significantly boosting his earnings with $280 million from the fight.
Iron Mike continues performing in the ring
Mike Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005. He had a total of 58 fights, with 50 wins, 6 losses, and 2 no-contest bouts. In recent years, he has been actively participating in exhibition matches.
In November 2020, he fought Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round, two-minute-per-round match that ended in a draw.
In November 2024, Iron Mike suffered a defeat against the much younger American blogger and boxer Jake Paul, who is 30 years his junior.
