MiG-29 crash during landing: Ukrainian pilot killed

On the night of August 23, during landing, the pilot of the Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet Serhii Bondar died, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"After completing a combat mission, during landing, the pilot of the MiG-29 fighter jet, Major Bondar Serhii Viktorovych, born in 1979, died," the report says.
The command added that the causes and circumstances of the crash are being established, and also expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.
Losses of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
During the period of the full-scale war with Russia, the Ukrainian Air Force lost several fighter jets and professional pilots while repelling Russian air attacks.
Thus, on the night of June 29, first-class pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustymenko died.
He piloted the American F-16 fighter jet, shot down an aerial target, but the aircraft was damaged. The pilot diverted the plane away from a populated area and did not have time to eject.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Ustymenko the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously).
In April of this year, during a drone attack, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost a Su-27 fighter jet. The pilot ejected and survived.
Previously, in May 2024, during the execution of a mission, fighter jet pilot Denys Vasyliuk died.
And in February 2024, during the execution of a combat mission, pilot Vladyslav Rykov died. He had about 400 combat sorties to his credit.
