On November 5, US First Lady Melania Trump will meet with representatives from Russia and Ukraine at the White House. She will also deliver a speech on the ceasefire in Oleshky, according to the White House.
The White House explains that Melania Trump will personally bring together representatives of the two countries currently at war with each other.
They described the event as extraordinary in US history.
According to the White House, the First Lady herself initiated contact between Russia and Ukraine.
She secured a ceasefire in Oleshky and the surrounding areas of the Kherson region. The White House called this an unprecedented diplomatic initiative for a US First Lady.
Melania Trump will deliver a speech on the ceasefire in Oleshky on Thursday, November 5, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. The speech will take place at the White House.
US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced that Ukraine and Russia would hold talks in Abu Dhabi on November 10–11.
The US will act as a mediator, and the parties will discuss post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, and humanitarian issues at the working level.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his relationship with US President Donald Trump as emotional in an interview with PBS NewsHour.
He called on the US government to put pressure on the Kremlin leader, rather than on Kyiv.
