A fire broke out today, November 13, at one of the petrochemical plants in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. The cause of the blaze remains unknown, according to Astra.

The fire started at one of the production units of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim enterprise in the city of Nizhnekamsk.

Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties. The cause of the fire has not yet been specified.

Photos shared on local social media show thick plumes of black smoke.

The plant, a production unit of Nizhnekamskneftekhim, specializes in the construction, repair, and modernization of petrochemical and energy industry facilities, performing a full range of services from metal structure fabrication to equipment installation.

Nizhnekamsk is located more than 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Fires at Russian oil refineries

Earlier, a fire broke out at the Taneco oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, amid a drone attack threat.

One of the refinery’s columns caught fire, and the air raid siren sounded. Eyewitnesses said employees were evacuated from the facility. No official details were provided about the scale of the fire.

On November 11, long-range drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) Alpha Special Operations Center successfully struck the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orsk, Orenburg region.

Ukraine also carried out successful strikes on an oil terminal in the Russian port of Tuapse and targeted the Saratov oil refinery.
