Actress Margaret Qualley became the first star to wear Chanel’s extravagant barefoot shoes to the premiere of The Dog Stars, in which she plays one of the lead roles.
An unexpected look
On Thursday, August 20, the London premiere of Ridley Scott’s new post-apocalyptic film The Dog Stars took place. The movie stars Margaret Qualley, Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and others.
Margaret Qualley’s premiere look immediately caught attention as the actress chose Chanel’s viral barefoot sandals from the brand’s Cruise 2027 collection. The unusual shoes consist of a heel cap and ankle straps, leaving most of the foot exposed.
The star also wore a lightweight black fringed dress, loose hair with minimal styling, and barely-there “natural” makeup.

Fashion house Chanel introduced the barefoot sandals at its Cruise 2027 show in Biarritz. Creative director Matthieu Blazy presented the concept of going completely without shoes — models walked the runway with only their heels covered, while the sandals were secured around the ankles with thin ties and the soles were completely exposed.
The design immediately went viral and sparked discussion on social media, with users joking that these sandals should cost half the price.

About the film
Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars is based on Peter Heller’s novel of the same name and is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on August 28, 2026. The film follows survivors in a post-apocalyptic world after a pandemic has wiped out much of humanity.
The main character, Hig, is a pilot who survived the pandemic but lost his wife. He is played by Jacob Elordi. Living in isolation with his dog and survivalist Bangley, Hig’s life changes when he discovers a mysterious radio transmission that leads him to search for other survivors.
