Apple is preparing to release iOS 27 for millions of iPhones. The major update with new features could become available immediately after Apple’s fall presentation in Cupertino, according to MacWorld.

A new era for Siri and Apple Intelligence integration

The key system update will be Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence algorithms.

The voice assistant will be able to:

  • maintain natural conversations,
  • keep track of conversation context,
  • analyze what is on the screen,
  • use data from built-in apps.

For example, Siri will be able to find ticket details in old emails or use the camera to answer questions about an object in front of the user.

The changes also extend to several standard apps:

Safari: automatically groups tabs by topic, tracks price changes on websites, and creates extensions based on text descriptions.

Photos has received AI tools such as Spatial Reframing, which changes the composition, and Extend, which expands images beyond their original edges, as well as improved object removal.

Passwords: the system can automatically visit websites and change weak or compromised passwords.

Shortcuts: users can describe the automation they need in words, and AI will automatically build the appropriate sequence of actions.

Notably, the advanced Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features require modern hardware. Support is available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and newer models.

Initially, the assistant will work only in English and will be unavailable to users in the European Union and China due to regulatory restrictions.

Handy extras, parental controls and optimization

Alongside its smart features, Apple has added numerous useful everyday improvements.

In the sound settings, ringtone and alarm volume have finally been separated, while a button for quickly pasting text or images from the clipboard has appeared above the keyboard.

The Health, Weather, and Music apps now fully support landscape orientation, which is considered preparation for the interface of a future foldable iPhone.

Special attention has been given to child safety:

Ask to Browse: children must request parental permission through Messages before opening a new website.

Communication Safety: algorithms will block detected violent content or nude images in Messages and FaceTime.

Flexible limits: parents can set time limits for individual app categories, such as games and social media, depending on the day of the week.

For owners of older devices, the main news will be compatibility: iOS 27 will support all iPhones starting with the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation).

Thanks to optimization of internal system processes, the update will speed up app launches by up to 30 percent, photo gallery performance by up to 70 percent, and AirDrop file transfers by up to 80 percent.
