In a recent announcement from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine, details have emerged on the successful neutralization of a Russian TU-22M3 bomber. Reconnaissance teams traversed over 600 kilometers of enemy territory to accomplish this mission, according to GUR.

In August 2023, a group of Ukrainian reconnaissance operatives undertook a remarkable 600-kilometer trek through enemy territory. The objective of this operation was to thwart terrorist aviation bombardments by Russian Forces on peaceful Ukrainian cities.

Penetrating deep into the heart of the adversary's territory, the reconnaissance team successfully destroyed a Russian Tu-22M3 bomber and rendered 2 others inoperable. However, the operation took a heavy toll on the reconnaissance unit.

Upon returning to Ukrainian-controlled territory, the reconnaissance group led by Colonel Oleh Babii fell into an ambush, engaging in a fierce and uneven battle against Russian invaders.

In a selfless act to cover the retreat of his comrades-in-arms, Ukrainian reconnaissance officer Lieutenant Colonel Oleh Babii sustained mortal injuries and ultimately sacrificed his life.
