Magnetic storms in April 2025 are not slowing down. From April 7 to 11, moderate to high geomagnetic activity is expected, which could affect weather-sensitive people, their pressure, sleep, and overall condition.

When are magnetic storms expected between April 7 and 11, and how to protect your body? RBC-Ukraine explains.

Magnetic storm forecast for April 7-11

According to the NOAA and NASA Space Weather forecasting laboratories, moderate and short-lived geomagnetic disturbances are expected this week:

April 7, Monday: geomagnetic index K-4, moderate magnetic storm

April 8, Tuesday: red-level magnetic storm, K-5. It is recommended to limit stress and physical activity.

April 9, Wednesday: activity will rise to K-6. Significant deterioration of well-being may occur in many people.

April 10, Thursday: possible intensification to K-5. Headaches, fatigue, and drowsiness are possible.

April 11, Friday: activity will decrease, and a K-3 index is expected.

It is worth adding that all scientists' forecasts are preliminary, as solar activity can change rapidly. It is important to follow updated forecasts and warnings from scientists.

What is a magnetic storm

A magnetic storm is the reaction of the Earth's magnetic field to solar activity. It occurs when charged particles from solar coronal mass ejections interact with our atmosphere. Although Earth has a natural shield - the magnetosphere - strong storms can break through it.

How magnetic storms affect people

Moderate and strong red-level magnetic storms can affect human well-being. This includes the deterioration of well-being for many people on the planet and disruptions in radio and electrical device functions.

Main symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Migraine
  • General weakness
  • Severe fatigue
  • Insomnia or excessive sleepiness
  • Increased pressure
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Emotional instability
  • Reduced performance
  • Exacerbation of chronic diseases

How to protect yourself

Experts provide general recommendations for magnetic storm days and advise more rest, adequate sleep, and reduced stress. Also:

  • Drink more water
  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine
  • Reduce physical and emotional stress
  • Sleep at least 7-9 hours a day
  • Ventilate room
  • Take walks outdoors
  • Eat a full and balanced diet
  • Monitor your blood pressure

People with chronic diseases should rest more and keep necessary medications on hand.

If your well-being worsens, consult a doctor for help.
