Magnetic storms: All unfavorable dates and forecast for coming week
Magnetic storms are a phenomenon that can affect people's health, and cause headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. Scientists warn that several magnetic fluctuations are expected in the coming days, which can cause unpleasant consequences.
Forecast of magnetic storms for January 20-25
According to NOAA and TESIS satellite systems and international meteorological laboratories around the world, several bursts of geomagnetic activity are expected this week.
Monday, January 20 - a moderate magnetic storm, K-index 4. It will be noticeable for weather-dependent people.
Tuesday, January 21 - weak to moderate magnetic fluctuations.
Wednesday, January 22 - a powerful red-level magnetic storm, K-index 6. The greatest impact is from 12:00 to 18:00.
Thursday, January 23 - slight to moderate fluctuations
Friday, January 24 - weak or moderate fluctuations
Saturday, January 25 - red-level magnetic storm, K-index 5.
It is worth noting that all scientists' forecasts of magnetic storms are preliminary, as the Sun's activity is variable and the data can change even within a day. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the updates and warnings.
Why magnetic storms occur
Explosions and outbursts on the Sun cause solar energy to be emitted into space, which causes an increased geomagnetic situation. Solar energy, consisting of protons and electrons, is rapidly dissipated in different directions, including towards the Earth.
Charged particles can move quickly in space, and when they reach the Earth's magnetosphere, they provoke activity called solar or magnetic storms.
Storms are distinguished by their occurrence and power. All storms below K-index 4 are weak and moderate storms that can be felt only by people who are more sensitive to geomagnetic fluctuations and weather changes.
All storms stronger than K-index 4 are powerful storms that can not only cause a deterioration in human health but also affect radio communications, satellites, and GPRS. Powerful storms can also cause the aurora borealis.
How magnetic storms affect humans
Scientists around the world are conducting research and there is currently no consensus on the impact of magnetic storms on humans. However, there are many studies that confirm the relationship between magnetic storms and health problems in humans.
One study showed that strong magnetic storms can affect bioelectrical processes in the human body and cause sleep disturbances, decreased performance, increased anxiety and irritability.
The following symptoms are possible during magnetic storms:
- Headache
- Migraine
- Dizziness
- Insomnia
- Weakness
- Drowsiness during the day
- Rapid fatigue
- Decreased concentration and performance
- Increased anxiety
- Depression
- Irritability
- Aggression
- Depressive states
How to reduce the impact of magnetic storms on the body
Doctors give general recommendations and advise to follow a normal daily routine, get more rest, and breathe fresh air. And also
- Drink enough water
- Get enough sleep
- Reduce stress and physical activity
- Do not abuse coffee, energy drinks, alcohol, junk food and gadgets
These will help if you feel unwell:
- Walking in the fresh air
- Swimming in the pool
- Quiet activities
- Herbal tea
If your health deteriorates or causes concern, you should seek medical help.
