Macron: 'We are not at war with Russia, but our duty is to make its victory impossible'
President Emmanuel Macron of France has assured Ukraine of continued support in defense against Russia's aggressive war, reports Bild.
"We are not at war with Russia, but our duty is to make its victory impossible. We cannot allow Russia to believe that it can win the war," he stated.
According to Macron, Russia's victory would signify the end of European security.
"That's why we continue to support the Ukrainians. For this, we train Ukrainian soldiers and provide military equipment for artillery, ground-based air defense, and long-range strikes," said the French president.
He also added that Paris would implement innovations to respond to the challenge posed by the widespread use of drones.
"In this, France relies on its defense industry," Macron said.
He noted that France's defense industry is in combat mode and capable of supplying more and faster than before.
Military aid from France to Ukraine
Since the start of Russia's full-scale war, France has been one of Ukraine's main allies alongside the United States and Germany. Paris provides active financial and military assistance to Kyiv.
It was previously announced that France would supply Ukraine with 40 new long-range SCALP missiles and bombs, the quantity of which is not specified.
In February, President Macron is set to visit Kyiv to sign an agreement on the supply of new weapons to Ukraine. The drafting of the document is in its final stages.
