Macron warns US against trade war with Europe

The introduction of customs duties on goods from the European Union by the United States of America could harm the American economy, French President Emmanuel Macron says in an interview with CNN.

According to Macron, instead of resolving the trade war with the EU, Washington should focus on other issues, such as confronting China, the crisis in the Middle East, or Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
“Europe is an ally for you. If you want Europe to be engaged on more investment, security, and defense, if you want to hope to develop, which is, I think the interest of the US, you should not hurt the European economies by threatening it with tariffs,” the president emphasized.
US President Donald Trump, according to Western media, intends to impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports to the country, which jeopardizes ties with some of America's largest trading partners.
In early February, Donald Trump signed a decree to impose 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, as well as 10% tariffs on goods from China. However, he later postponed the decision on Mexico and Canada until March.
In particular, on February 8, he signed a decree to postpone the introduction of tariffs on cheap parcels from China.
