Macron urges Netanyahu to remember Israel was created by UN decision
French President Emmanuel Macron urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to ignore UN decisions. He noted that Israel was created by the UN decision, according to Politico.
"Mr. Netanyahu must not forget that his country was created by a UN decision," Macron said, referring to the UN General Assembly vote in November 1947 that ended the British mandate in Palestine and divided the land into Jewish and Arab states.
In recent days, Macron and Netanyahu exchanged barbs amid fears of an escalation in the conflict between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah, which threatens to spill over into Lebanon and affect its civilian population.
Yesterday, Netanyahu informed US President Joe Biden’s administration that he is ready to strike military targets, not oil or nuclear sites, in Iran.
American forces have deployed a THAAD missile defense system in Israel. This move aims to strengthen Israel’s integrated air defense system.
On October 12, it was reported that Israel narrowed its list of targets in Iran in response to the October 1 missile attack. Iran’s nuclear sites were not among the preliminary targets.
