Macron reveals who to monitor ceasefire in Ukraine

Today, Russia was offered a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. The United States will play the leading role in monitoring and enforcing the truce, but Europeans will also take part, French President Emmanuel Macron says during a press conference in Kyiv.
In particular, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the US had committed to monitor the 30-day ceasefire proposed by Europe. At the same time, all partners from the Coalition of the Willing will participate.
"(The ceasefire will be monitored - ed.) mainly by the United States of America, with participation from all Europeans... This issue will be prepared and coordinated by the Americans and Europeans," Macron said.
The French President also noted that the truce would pave the way for "immediate work and negotiations by the parties involved in the conflict to build a strong and long-term peace."
What precedes this
Today in Kyiv, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing took place. Among those present in the capital were President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, President of France Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Head of the Polish Government Donald Tusk.
Before and after these negotiations, they held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. As a result, a deadline was set for Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
In particular, during the press conference, Zelenskyy announced that a full and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine should begin as early as Monday, May 12. If Moscow refuses, new sanctions await Russia.
Furthermore, Macron mentioned that the sanctions package is already prepared.
