Macron criticizes Russia for manipulating and delaying ceasefire

French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized the Kremlin's position on the ceasefire in Ukraine and the disinformation spread by Russia, The Guardian reports.
During the "Coalition of the Willing" summit held in Paris on March 27, Macron made several statements regarding resolving the war in Ukraine.
According to The Guardian, the French president accused Russia of refusing to sign the proposed ceasefire and attempting to introduce new conditions. He also criticized the "fabrications and falsehoods" spread by Moscow regarding Ukraine and the ceasefire.
At the same time, Macron stated that he welcomes the role of US President Donald Trump in facilitating peace negotiations. He emphasized that he is "in constant contact" with his American counterpart and also expressed admiration for the courage of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Macron also outlined the clear objective of the "Coalition of the Willing" gathered at the Paris summit.
"Fundamentally, to win peace, and to do this, we must place Ukraine in the best possible position to negotiate and ensure that the peace that will be negotiated will be solid and lasting," the French president stressed.
Ceasefire in Ukraine
Recently, negotiations took place in Saudi Arabia between Ukraine and the United States, as well as a separate meeting between US and Russian representatives. Washington announced that agreements had been reached with both sides to ensure the security of navigation in the Black Sea.
Ukraine confirmed that the talks in Saudi Arabia addressed maritime security and the protection of port infrastructure. Another key topic was the ban on strikes against energy infrastructure.
However, following the negotiations, Moscow issued its own statement, emphasizing that the security provisions in the Black Sea and the restoration of Russian agricultural exports would only take effect after sanctions on Russian food producers and exporters were lifted.
Following Moscow’s statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of manipulation and lies regarding the ceasefire in the Black Sea and the energy sector. He stated that Russia is trying to twist the agreements and deceive the entire world.
