Macron and Trump had a late-night call — Ukraine was on the agenda

Late Thursday night, French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone call with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, according to The Guardian.
The media says that one of the topics of the conversation was Ukraine. A source in the Élysée Palace said they discussed Iran, Ukraine, and the ongoing trade negotiations between the EU and the US.
In addition, Macron also spoke yesterday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the situation in Iran and Gaza.
Macron's call with Putin
On July 1, Macron also had a phone call with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Macron stated that he urged the Kremlin leader to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine and begin negotiations aimed at achieving a lasting and just peace. For his part, Putin blamed the West, claiming its policies had led to Russia's war against Ukraine.
Trump's conversation with Putin
Also yesterday, Vladimir Putin announced a phone call with US President Donald Trump. Their conversation lasted nearly an hour. Following the call, Russian officials described it as frank and constructive. Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yury Ushakov, said the two leaders were “on the same wavelength.”
At the same time, today Trump stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping the war in Ukraine.
"And I'm not happy about that," said Trump.
