Macaulay Culkin could return as Kevin McCallister in a new Home Alone movie. The 45-year-old actor, who became a global star thanks to the role, is reportedly discussing his own sequel idea with Disney. If the studio gives it the green light, Culkin could play Kevin again for the first time in 35 years, according to The Town.
A new story about Kevin
According to the report, Culkin was recently spotted at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, where he was allegedly pitching his idea for a new Home Alone film.
Entertainment journalist Matthew Belloni claims Disney executives were impressed by the concept and are considering bringing Culkin back to the role that made him a household name.
"I recently learned something very interesting from the Disney lot: Macaulay Culkin was there. He's talked about having an idea for a new Home Alone, and Disney is, let's just say, very excited about it. They're offering him another film. I've spoken to people who heard the pitch, and it's genuinely a great idea for a Home Alone reboot with Macaulay Culkin," Belloni said.
Culkin famously played Kevin McCallister in the first two films of the franchise, Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).
Four more installments were later released with different actors and characters, but none managed to match the popularity and success of the original films.
What an adult Kevin could look like in the new movie
Back in late 2025, Culkin said he would be open to returning as Kevin McCallister and even revealed that he had his own idea for a sequel. This time, instead of facing two burglars, Kevin's biggest challenge would be his own child.
Culkin imagines Kevin as a father who works too much and doesn't spend enough time with his son. Feeling neglected, the boy becomes angry and eventually locks his father out of the house, setting elaborate traps for him.
"I had this idea... I'm either widowed or divorced. I'm raising a kid and everything. I work all the time and don't give my child enough attention, so he starts getting mad at me. Then I'm locked out. My son won't let me into the house and sets traps for me," the actor previously shared.
According to Culkin, the house would become a metaphor for the relationship between father and son, with adult Kevin's main mission being to win back his child's love.
Negotiations over the project are still ongoing. Disney has not officially confirmed that Home Alone 7 is in development or that Macaulay Culkin will return to the franchise.
