The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, claims that the West is supposedly ready for a "draw" in Ukraine. He also expressed a desire for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, reports Belta.

The leader of the Belarusian regime claimed he had allegedly been in contact with certain representatives of the West, "who are ready to negotiate."

"My recent contacts with intelligent representatives of the 'civilized West' suggest that we have a certain tilt. The West has finally realized that it is necessary to negotiate in Ukraine. In sporting terms, it is still possible to end it in a draw today," Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko called for talks between Ukraine and Russia, stating that it is important to return to the negotiating table without preconditions and that a document from Istanbul could supposedly serve as a basis.

Belarus supports Russia in the war against Ukraine

Belarus is Moscow's closest ally. Russia deploys its troops and equipment in Belarus. Moreover, Minsk supports the Kremlin's policies and frequently emulates them.

Belarus and Russia are preparing joint military exercises, West-2025. In 2022, after the drills on Belarusian territory, Russian troops launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian military equipment even entered Ukraine from Belarusian territory.

Ukrainian border guards say they do not currently see a threat from Belarus but do not rule out the movement of forces during Belarusian-Russian military exercises.
