Loud explosions reported in Kyiv amid Shahed drone attack

On the evening of July 2, explosions were heard in Kyiv as Ukrainian air defense systems responded by shooting down Russian drones, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Around 11:00 PM Kyiv time, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv. The military warned that a drone was heading toward the city from the east.
"We ask residents and guests of the city to remain in shelters until the air raid alert is officially lifted," the Kyiv City Military Administration wrote in a statement.
Shortly after, explosions were heard in the city. Kyiv City Military Administration confirmed that Ukrainian air defense systems were actively engaging targets over the capital.
Twenty-three minutes later, the air raid alert in Kyiv was lifted.
Drone attack on Ukraine
On the evening of Wednesday, July 2, Russia once again launched strike drones against Ukrainian territory.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, drones were first detected around 9:30 PM Kyiv time when several groups were launched toward the Sumy region.
By 10:30 PM Kyiv time, it was reported that strike drones were advancing toward the Chernihiv region.
