Leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia to meet in October
The meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is set to take place next month, according to BILD.
According to the Armenian Security Council, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, will visit Brussels on Tuesday, September 26, where he will meet with advisors to the President of France, the Chancellor of Germany, the head of the European Council, as well as with an assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
On October 5, a meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan is expected in Granada, southern Spain. This meeting will also be attended by the President of France, the Chancellor of Germany, and the head of the European Council.
What proceeded this
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the beginning of "local anti-terrorist operations" in Nagorno-Karabakh. An operation by the Azerbaijani army commenced in the region. In response, Armenia refused to send its army to the area.
The people of Armenia strongly criticized the government, particularly Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Protests erupted on the streets of Yerevan, and Azerbaijan's operation concluded within a day.
