Latvian PM announces new military aid package for Ukraine
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will include armored personnel carriers, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Latvia also plans to provide Ukraine with solar panels to supply hospitals.
“I am glad to welcome Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Siliņa to Kyiv. I thanked the Latvian government and people for the concrete and consistent steps that strengthen Ukraine. In particular, for the Drone coalition for Ukraine initiative and the supply of drones for our soldiers. During our meeting, Prime Minister Siliņa announced another military support package, which will include armored personnel carriers,” said Shmyhal.
The two prime ministers also discussed expanding cooperation between defense companies and strengthening the Ukrainian military on the battlefield. Latvia also continues to support sanctions against Russia and is a reliable ally of Ukraine in its integration into the EU and NATO.
“Our Latvian friends are providing assistance with energy equipment and plan to provide Ukraine with solar panels for hospitals,” Shmyhal added.
Today Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa arrived in Kyiv on a working visit.
Earlier, the Latvian government decided to donate 20 vehicles to Ukraine that were previously confiscated from drivers detained for driving under the influence of alcohol.
