Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok, together with her Australian partner Ellen Perez, continues their campaign at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, where they will play in the second round of the doubles draw against an American pair.

Match schedule

The Kichenok/Perez duo will face Hailey Baptiste and Coco Gauff. The match is tentatively scheduled for 9:15 PM Kyiv time on Court 10.

It will be the third match on the court after the encounter between Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens against Barbora Krejcikova and Jelena Ostapenko.

Path to the second round

In their opening match, Kichenok and Perez defeated the Romanian-Russian pair Sorana Cirstea/Anna Kalinskaya, showing confident play and precise teamwork on court.

This victory allowed the Ukrainian and the Australian to secure their place in the tournament bracket and continue competing for the trophy and the prize fund, which exceeds $5 million.

Situation of Ukrainian tennis players at the tournament

In the singles draw in Cincinnati, there are no more Ukrainian representatives. Some of Ukraine's top tennis players—Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, and Dayana Yastremska—ended their participation in the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati for various reasons.

Svitolina lost in the second round to Czech player Barbora Krejcikova, failing to break her unfortunate streak of defeats in this head-to-head.

Kostyuk was supposed to play in the third round against Iga Swiatek, but due to a wrist injury sustained at the previous tournament in Montreal, she withdrew from further competition.

Yastremska, the last Ukrainian in the draw, decided to withdraw from the tournament before her third-round match against Coco Gauff.

Thus, all of Ukraine's hopes in Cincinnati now rest on the doubles competition, where Kichenok is playing with Perez.

Match expectations

Analysts note that Kichenok and Perez are showing consistent teamwork and can create serious problems for the American duo.

Fans are expecting an exciting and tense match, as Baptiste and Gauff have strong individual results and good on-court chemistry.
