UK to announce largest sanctions package against Russia tomorrow

The United Kingdom will announce a package of sanctions against Russia. The measures are aimed at strengthening support for Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression, according to DW.
British Foreign Minister David Lammy announced that on Monday, February 24, the largest package of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war will be announced.
Lammy noted that it is a "critical moment" for Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and all of Europe, urging an increase in support for Ukraine and continued cooperation with American and European partners to achieve a just peace. He emphasized that "there can be nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine."
"This is also the time to turn the screws on Putin's Russia," Lammy stated.
Additionally, the United Kingdom has already imposed sanctions on 1,900 individuals and organizations connected to the Russian government since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Lammy also confirmed the decision to provide £3 billion annually to Kyiv and expressed readiness to send British troops as part of peacekeeping forces if necessary.
These sanctions have been announced amid a shift in the US position, where President Donald Trump has distanced Ukraine from negotiations with Moscow in recent weeks, strengthening the UK's resolve to continue supporting Ukraine during this critical period.
Recall that British Foreign Minister David Lammy stated that he sees no signs of Russia's desire for peace with Ukraine. He expressed this opinion following the speech of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a closed meeting of G20 diplomats in South Africa.
