Kyiv under massive attack as drones approach from multiple directions: initial damage reported

Russia launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv during the night of July 31. Explosions were heard across the city, air defense systems were active, and fires broke out.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv shortly after 11:00 PM Kyiv time, amid a growing drone threat.
"Explosions in the capital. Air defense is at work. Stay in shelters," Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote.
According to Klitschko, Russian drones were entering the city from multiple directions. This information was also confirmed by Ukraine’s Air Force, which reported that attack drones were flying toward Kyiv from the south, north, and east.
As of 12:20 AM Kyiv time, loud explosions continued to be heard across the city. Monitoring groups reported several dozen drones heading toward the capital.
First reported consequences
Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko provided the first updates on the aftermath of the attack in the Solomianskyi district.
Initially, he reported two sites where drone debris had fallen, but later confirmed five locations, including:

A fire at an educational facility

Drone fragments hitting the ninth floor of a residential building

A fifth-floor apartment on fire in the Solomianskyi district
No casualties have been reported at this time.
Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed that Russia was conducting a massive drone attack across the country, launching UAVs from multiple directions, including the north, east, and south.
The night before, Russian forces launched 78 drones across Ukraine, some of them jet-powered. Targets included Kharkiv and Pokrovsk.
