Kyiv, Cherkasy and Poltava hit as Russia launches major attack

In the night of May 24, the Russian army carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine. Kyiv, Kyiv region, Cherkasy region, and Poltava region came under fire.
RBC-Ukraine has compiled everything currently known about the consequences of the strike.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia launched 90 missiles of various types at Ukraine, including 36 ballistic missiles, as well as around 600 drones.
"The highest number of impacts was in Kyiv, and Kyiv was the main target of this Russian attack," the president said.
According to him, at least 83 people are currently known to have been injured. There are also fatalities.
Kyiv
According to the National Police of Ukraine, Russian missiles and drones struck all districts of the capital.
Around 50 locations were damaged, including high-rise residential buildings, private houses, shopping centers, educational institutions, a market, administrative buildings of the State Emergency Service and police, as well as the National Chernobyl Museum.
Rescuers evacuated 12 people from a damaged dormitory and helped residents escape from burning high-rise buildings.
During rescue operations at one of the buildings, a second structural collapse occurred.
Due to the scale of destruction, additional units of the State Emergency Service were deployed to the capital from neighboring regions.
Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said that as of 10:35, the number of injured in Kyiv had risen to 62 people, including two children.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, two people were killed as a result of the attack.
Kyiv region
Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk reported that two people were killed in the Bucha and Obukhiv districts as a result of the overnight attack.
The number of injured has risen to nine people. Among them is an infant under one year old.
Bucha district
An enterprise, warehouse facilities, an educational institution, a shop, three apartment buildings, eight private houses, and two vehicles were damaged.
Obukhiv district
Three private houses were damaged.
Fastiv district
Five people were injured. Two wounded women were hospitalized to local hospitals, while others received medical assistance on site.
A medical outpatient clinic, nine private houses, an apartment building, and two vehicles were damaged.
Bila Tserkva district
A garage cooperative and industrial buildings were damaged.
Brovary district
Eleven private houses were damaged.
Vyshhorod district
An apartment building, a private house, and a vehicle were damaged.
Boryspil district
Two private houses, utility buildings, and a vehicle were damaged.
"All emergency services are working at the sites. Affected residents are already receiving all necessary assistance. Psychologists and social services are working with people," Kalashnyk said.
Cherkasy region
Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration Ihor Taburets reported that air defense forces and mobile fire groups destroyed 8 Russian missiles and 22 drones in the region.
In the regional center, a Russian drone struck a residential apartment building. The impact caused fires in apartments from the 5th to the 9th floors.
According to the latest data, 11 people were injured, including two children. Three victims were hospitalized.
In the Zolotonosha district, a cruise missile damaged an inactive farm. There were no casualties.
Poltava region
The National Police also reported damage in Poltava region as a result of the Russian attack. Details are currently being clarified.
Ukrainian services continue to deal with the aftermath of the massive strike. Rescuers, medics, police officers, psychologists, and social services are working at the sites.
What did Russia use to attack?
As a reminder, on the night of May 24, Russia carried out one of the most massive combined strikes on Ukraine in recent times. The main target of the attack was Kyiv.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army launched 90 missiles of various types and 600 drones. These included Kinzhal, Zircon, Iskander, Kalibr, Kh-101 missiles, as well as Shahed attack drones and decoy drones.
Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 604 aerial targets, including 55 missiles and 549 drones. At the same time, 16 missiles and 51 drones were recorded hitting 54 locations, while debris from downed targets fell in another 23 places.
