Kyiv asks people to close windows due to smoke from Russian attack

On the night of July 4, Russian forces carried out a massive missile and drone strike on Kyiv. As a result of the attack, impacts were recorded in various districts of the capital, states Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Fires have broken out in Kyiv due to the Russian attack. Many courtyards show huge craters and destroyed cars after ballistic missile strikes.
Residents of Kyiv are writing on social media that the city’s streets are completely covered in thick, black, acrid smoke, and the white sky is not visible at all.
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, also reported a high concentration of combustion products in the air.
“We have fires at several locations. After the air raid alert ends and you return home, close your windows. There is a high concentration of combustion products in the air. Russia has caused great destruction. The Russians bring nothing but terror and killing. That is a fact,” he wrote.
To protect yourself from poisoning, it is necessary not only to tightly close windows, doors, and ventilation openings but also to turn off air conditioners and ventilation systems. To protect the respiratory system, it is recommended to prepare cotton-gauze masks moistened with water or a weak soda solution.
Air raid alert in Kyiv
An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv at 5:15 p.m. Kyiv time due to the threat of drone attacks. It lasted until 7:24 p.m., but sirens sounded again at 8:00 p.m.
On the night of July 4, a series of powerful explosions rocked Kyiv. The capital was under a combined attack by Russian terrorists, struck by ballistic missiles and drones.
There is one reported injury in the Holosiivskyi district.
