Russia intends to continue its war against Ukraine, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces are striking Russian territory even during major political events important to the aggressor country, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made the statement.

It is important to note that overnight, Ukraine’s Defense Forces attacked Russian territory with hundreds of strike drones.

Although Russia’s Defense Ministry has not disclosed the exact number, reports indicate that more than 1,200 drones were involved.

Against this backdrop, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 613 drones had been flying toward the Russian capital and the surrounding region.

“Most of the drones were neutralized by the Defense Ministry’s air defense forces on the distant approaches. A total of 231 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow,” he claimed.

According to TASS estimates, Ukraine carried out one of the largest attacks on Moscow and the surrounding region in the past year overnight.

Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, has already responded to the Ukrainian military’s attack. He claimed that Russian air defenses had managed to repel the aerial assault.

“The attacks during the Russia-Africa summit once again underscore that the special military operation must continue,” Peskov said cynically.

The Russia-Africa summit is currently taking place in Moscow. Representatives from 48 African countries have arrived in the Russian capital, where Vladimir Putin is also addressing the gathering. Amid the latest developments, central Moscow has been closed off, and mobile internet services are experiencing disruptions.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had intercepted Ukrainian drones overnight on October 29 over the following territories:

  • Bryansk region

  • Belgorod region

  • Kursk region

  • Kaluga region

  • Tula region

  • Smolensk region

  • Lipetsk region
