Kremlin states talks with US on rare earth metals begin

Russia and the USA have begun discussions on projects related to rare earth metals. Some companies have already "expressed interest" in these projects, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, says in an interview with Russian newspaper Izvestia.
"Rare earth metals are an important area for cooperation, and, of course, we have started discussions about various rare earth metals and projects in Russia," Dmitriev stated.
Russia possesses significant reserves of rare earth metals, which are critically important in modern technological industries. However, the terrorist state lags behind global leaders in terms of their extraction and processing.
At the end of February, Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, explained why Russia is offering rare earth metals to the United States.
Agreement on rare earth metals between Ukraine and USA
Kyiv and Washington were supposed to sign an agreement on rare earth resources in February, but this did not happen due to a confrontation between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office.
Recently, Washington handed over a new draft agreement on natural resources to Kyiv. Zelenskyy, in turn, explained that while the previous agreement was a framework deal, the new one is a full-fledged agreement that must be ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament. US Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, stated that the signing could happen as early as this week.
