Ukraine's No. 2 player and world No. 10 Marta Kostyuk will not help the national team in the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup finals, according to the athlete's personal Instagram account.
What happened to Marta
Kostyuk posted a statement on social media saying that a medical diagnosis had forced her to change all of her sporting plans for the near future.
"I've been feeling pain in my wrist for the past few weeks. I hoped that taking some time off after the US Open would help, but unfortunately, the pain got worse. An MRI confirmed that my wrist needs more time and proper recovery before I can compete again," the tennis player said.
She added that she was very disappointed to miss the team competition, as representing Ukraine has always been special to her. However, her main priority now is to fully recover from the injury.
