Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group denies reports of Russian forces allegedly entering Pokrovsk
On the evening of Friday, January 17, some media outlets and social networks spread information that Russian forces were allegedly present in Pokrovsk. However, this information is false, reports the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Operational-Strategic Group Khortytsia.
The military noted that the operational situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains the most challenging along the entire line of contact. However, battles are ongoing on the approaches to the agglomeration, and the Defense Forces are resisting the enemy's attempts to leverage their numerical superiority and advance.
At the same time, the information about the presence of the enemy in Pokrovsk is false.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Operational-Strategic Group Khortytsia added that only verified and accurate data regarding combat actions and the operational situation on each front line are provided through official information channels. These updates are constantly clarified and shared to inform the public.
"Any emotional interpretation of such information and the spread of messages that could, in any way, encourage the enemy to escalate the situation on a particular section of the front, plays into the hands of the enemy. We strongly urge the use of verified information, the restraint of emotions, and the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the military urged.
As of 22:00 on January 17, 155 combat actions occurred on the front line. The enemy exerted the most pressure in the Pokrovsk direction. Throughout the day, there were 64 attempted attacks, 49 of which were repelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and 15 battles were still ongoing.
