Kamala Harris steps away from politics, cites 'broken' system

Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced that she is taking a break from politics, saying she doesn't want to return to a "broken" system, according to The Hill.
Harris stated that she will not run for governor of California next year.
"I don't want to go back into the system. I think it's broken. I want to travel the country. I want to listen to people, I want to talk with people. And I don't want it to be transactional, where I'm asking for their vote," she said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The former US Vice President added that she avoided the news for months following her loss in the 2024 presidential election.
"I'm just not into self-mutilation," Harris noted.
