Kallas reports progress toward 2 mln shells pledge to Ukraine

During a conversation with journalists, EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated that the European Union has already managed to secure two-thirds of the initiative to provide two million artillery shells for Ukraine.
“We see the deadliest attacks in this war, civilians are being killed. And it is already one month since the period when Ukraine agreed to an unconditional ceasefire. We have not seen that from the Russian side. What is clear is that we need to support Ukraine more, and I am happy to see that we already have two-thirds of my ammunition initiative,” she said.
At the same time, she noted that the West should do more for Ukraine and reminded that European partners have already committed 23 billion euros ($26.26 billion) this year.
According to Kallas, today it is also necessary to put maximum pressure on the Russian Federation (RF) to get the Kremlin to agree to end the war.
“And we can see that Russia really wants war, and everyone who wants killing to stop should put maximum pressure on Russia,” the EU foreign policy chief added.
Initiative for 2 million shells
On March 20, the EU's top diplomat launched an initiative for additional artillery ammunition for Ukraine and offered to provide 5 billion euros ($5.7 billion) worth of shells.
Later, she said that Ukraine could receive all the shells by the end of 2025.
