German heavyweight Agit Kabayel revealed his repeated attempts to secure a showdown with Oleksandr Usyk, claiming he called out the Ukrainian champion multiple times but never got the fight, according to The Ring.
How Kabayel tried to arrange a fight
In an interview with The Ring, the German heavyweight said he had actively tried to get Usyk’s attention on social media and had also approached him personally to propose a fight.
The boxer added that he even traveled to Egypt, where he raised the possibility of fighting the Ukrainian in person after one of his bouts.
What Kabayel plans to focus on next
Despite his repeated attempts to get the Ukrainian champion’s attention, a fight between the two never happened.
Kabayel acknowledged that he had done everything possible to make the bout happen, so he has now decided to focus on his own career.
