Western components are reaching Russian Shahed drones more quickly after being manufactured at factories. Their route to Russia has become shorter, stated Ukraine’s Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, Vladyslav Vlasiuk, in a comment to journalists.

Vlasiuk said that during his visit to Washington and meetings with US officials, he emphasized that the supply chain for foreign components into Russia has been reduced to a minimum.

"In the Shahed drones used by Russia to attack Ukraine in late March 2026, we identified American components manufactured in late 2025. This means the parts are reaching assembly lines just a few months after leaving the factory," he added.

According to Vlasiuk, although some of the components are counterfeit, most are genuine products from American, Chinese, Japanese, and German companies.

"We consistently stress that while the US government treats this issue as a priority, the situation remains a serious challenge for the entire export control system," the Presidential Commissioner emphasized.

Vlasiuk recently stated that, despite sanctions, Russia continues to assemble Shahed-type kamikaze drones using foreign components.

Fresh components from the United States, Switzerland, and Japan are still being found in drones produced in early 2026.

At the same time, there are some positive signals. According to recent analyses of downed drones, Dutch microchips made by NXP have disappeared from them following tighter export controls imposed by the company.
