Johnny Depp returns to acting after 7 years with unexpected new role

After a long break, Johnny Depp is preparing to return to the big screen, and this time, fans may not even recognize him. Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the Christmas film Ebenezer, in which the actor appears in a completely unexpected look, according to People.
Johnny Depp is unrecognizable as Scrooge
The trailer gives viewers a first look at Depp's dramatic transformation. Heavy prosthetic makeup, gray hair, deep wrinkles, and a stern expression make him almost impossible to recognize. He looks nothing like the actor audiences are used to seeing and certainly nothing like his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.
The film is a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novella "A Christmas Carol," with Depp taking on the role of the miser Ebenezer Scrooge.
The story follows a wealthy but greedy and lonely man who despises Christmas and refuses to change his life. But on Christmas Eve, he is visited by three spirits who show him his past, present, and future.

After this extraordinary journey, Scrooge is given a chance to rethink his life and change the way he treats other people. At the same time, the filmmakers promise a much darker and more atmospheric take on the story than previous adaptations of the classic Christmas tale.
The film is directed by Ti West, known for "Pearl" and "MaXXXine." Alongside Johnny Depp, the cast includes Daisy Ridley and Sam Claflin.
When will Johnny Depp's new movie be released?
Interest in "Ebenezer" began growing even before the first trailer was released. On July 23, the filmmakers unveiled the movie's official poster, and earlier, Johnny Depp appeared at San Diego Comic-Con dressed as his character.
It seems the actor became so immersed in the role of Scrooge that he barely broke character while meeting fans.
"Ebenezer" is scheduled to premiere on November 13.
For Johnny Depp, it marks his first major Hollywood film in years. His last appearance in a major feature film was "Waiting for the Barbarians," released in 2019.
