Jeffrey Epstein case: High-profile names come up in documents linked to sex offender
Court papers connected to Jeffrey Epstein, who was involved in sexual offenses, were revealed on Wednesday. These documents include names like Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and David Copperfield, according to The Guardian.
The documents became public as part of a lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in December 2021 for sex trafficking with Epstein. Before the reveal, the names were listed as J Doe in court papers. Being on the list doesn't mean someone is accused of something related to Epstein.
One document includes a statement from Maxwell, suggesting that Prince Andrew visited Epstein's island. Giuffre, in her deposition, claimed that Clinton liked young girls. Michael Jackson and David Copperfield are also mentioned in the documents.
The documents state that Donald Trump's name came up, but he is not accused of any wrongdoing. Giuffre's deposition also mentions a visit to one of Trump's casinos. Another revelation involves a puppet of Prince Andrew at Epstein's home, with allegations of inappropriate actions.
Details of the case
Giuffre accused Epstein and Maxwell of forcing her into a sexual encounter with Prince Andrew when she was 17. She had sued Maxwell for defamation, but the case was settled in 2017.
On July 6, 2019, Epstein was arrested for sex trafficking. His lifeless body was discovered in his jail cell later in the same year, with authorities concluding that he had taken his own life by hanging.
In 2021, Giuffre sued Prince Andrew over alleged sexual abuse, and the suit was settled in 2022. The documents released are part of Giuffre's civil case. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022.
